Post-doctoral Researcher Mykola Ialovega won the 1st place Peoples’ Choice Poster Award at the 7th Annual Postdoctoral Symposium organized by the Postdoctoral Association of the UW on Last Friday(09/23/2022).
During the Symposium, He presented a poster titled “Development of an absorbing first-wall interface for compact fusion devices” which highlighted benefits for using the cold-spray technology for manufacturing and repair of plasma-facing components of fusion devices. Also, the experiments on Tantalum cold-sprayed stainless-steel samples demonstrated that they withstand high particle flux (3.5E23 D/m2) at the high surface temperature (950 K) and have a potential to be used as a hydrogen gettering interface with an enhanced storage capacity compared to the bulk Tantalum.
