Paper about Multiphysics Modeling of Impurity Transport for FNSF Startup Scenario with ERO2.0 was published!

The study titled “Multiphysics Modeling of Impurity Transport for FNSF Startup Scenario with ERO2.0” is focused on multiphysics modeling of the Fusion Nuclear Science Facility conceptualization study. The work is the first of its kind with UEDGE+ERO2.0 as a way to perform predictive modeling for D-T plasma performance in a double-null configuration, as well as erosion/depostion and impurity transport in high recycling scenarios for a U.S. fusion facility. Results show that midplane erosion can contribute significantly to impurity buildup and erosion of tungsten along the divertor targets during the startup period, which can negatively impact the plasma during steady state operation.
